Several weeks ago, a gentleman called who was very distressed about not being able to access his cryptocurrencies in his hard wallet. He had a few Bitcoins and Ethereum allegedly in there. He was now locked out because of a malfunctioning wallet. He also misplaced the seed words, which is how people would normally recover their cryptocurrency with a failed hardware wallet.
I gathered all available information about the wallet and its security mechanisms. The wallet was a sophisticated model equipped with advanced encryption and multiple layers of security. The first challenge was to bypass the malfunctioning hardware. I slowly disassembled the wallet, extracting the memory chip where the private keys were stored.
For this project, I used an AI Linux-based operating system. We generated a list of potential passwords by analyzing this client’s past password habits and employing machine learning algorithms.
I put the old memory chip in a new hardware wallet using the same wallet model. Before I started this painstaking process, I went through my client’s emails, seeing that he had many different email accounts. With him by my side, we spent seven hours going through his email accounts and the folders in the email clients. Bingo! He had an encrypted email account, and in that email, the account was a folder with the word STAR. Inside the folder were the recovery seed words to his crypto wallet. This changed everything. So, we ordered another new hardware wallet from this company. I had it shipped overnight.
In the morning, we plugged in the latest hardware wallet, put in the recovery seed words, created a new password, and there it was. My client’s fortune was recovered. My client and I were ecstatic. He was extremely grateful and giving for the fee that I charged, and he was back on a plane that night going back to where he came from.
